Ideas are bigger than people

Washington taking command of the American Army at Cambridge. 1775, National Archives, engraving by C. Rogers from painting by M.A. Wageman      An idea, as defined by Oxford Dictionary, is a plan, thought, or suggestion, especially about what to do in a particular situation . By extension then, an ideology is any wide-ranging system of beliefs, ways of thought, and categories that provide the foundation of programmes of political and social action: an ideology is a conceptual scheme with a practical application.      What is our ideology?  In some circles, ideology is abhorrent- it is to be avoided at all costs. The problem with that is, we all adhere to at least some form of ideology. The question then becomes, once we have been intellectually honest, where does our ideology come from?      I cannot begin to surmise where each of our ideologies come from. Some it will be Scripture. Some it will be Marx. Some Locke. Some Voltaire. Some, sadly, it will be CNN. The honest answer is t

Because History, Duh

The first flag being made, Illustration, National Archives Repented?   Looked locally for like minded people?   Understand that money is directly tied to freedom?      Good. Now, what do we know of history? Do we think that it doesn't matter? Is what we know from public school? Do we understand the old phrase "Those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it" .       Does world history matter? Sure it does. Does American history matter? Absolutely. Does biblical history matter? Most assuredly . Why do I ask these questions? Many cultures and countries have risen in the course of history. Many of these have fallen - as a matter of fact, all have fallen . We have a tendency to feel as though America is bullet proof, not that pride is a sin or anything . I repeat, all empires have fallen. Yes, I said empires. We didn't start out as an empire, but we quickly turned to it - forcing subjects into our beliefs and desires. We are all guilty of this in some form.

It's All About The Benjamins

Benjamin Franklin at the Court of St. James, National archives, engraving from painting by C. Schussele .        Having  repented and  looking locally , we must recognize that our monetary system is in shambles. It's all about the Benjamins.      Contrary to popular belief, the country's financial condition is horrific . Fiat money is never a good idea. Sure, it brings about a temporary inflated  standard of living, but that level of living is hard to maintain. That is, unless, we just print money . "Well, they're the government, Tim! They can do what they want!" Yes, they can, with dire consequences. The printing of money with no backing to it is highly irresponsible and inflates the cost of everything . This form of monetary policy is called Modern Monetary Theory. It is the idea that the strongest five countries can do whatever they want with their currency because no-one can do anything about it. It is a utopian money tree. This just doesn't fit with

Now what?

Spirit of '76, National Archives,  Painting by A.M. Willard, 1876 If I didn't lose you in the last post, you may be asking, "Now what?" If you didn't catch the last post, you can find it  here. When we have repented, what is it that we need to do next?       Before we get off our knees, we need to open our eyes and look to the left and then to the right. Who is there with us?      There must be more than one of us.  The truth of the matter is, no-one can change the world by themselves. Even the most genius among us need help. That stated, who is with us ? It has been said, from various sources, there were only three percent of the population that supported or participated in the American Revolution. As far as I know, this has never been verified and I am not sure that it could ever be. There were influential and powerful people who gave nearly all or absolutely all they had for the cause. Now, I am not discussing war here, may it never be! The truth still stands:

Where Do We Start?

George Washington, Prayer at Valley Forge, National Archives,  Engraving by John McRae from painting by Henry Brueckner      Its been a while since I have posted, as I was at a loss for words. The following are some introductory thoughts on where we are wrong and how we can begin to get back to being who the pioneers of this country intended us to be.       It was God's design for man to be free. When I say free, I mean without earthly overlord. From the beginning, Abraham followed the law of the land but only faithful to God. As a matter of fact, so much was his great faith that the Hebrew writer states several times in chapter 11, "...by faith Abraham". Yes, it is my intention to directly tie faithfulness to God with freedom. That specific thought will be developed in later posts, but for now we see that Abraham really had no king but God.      The Israelites had no king when they left Egypt. Yes, they had Moses, but Moses took his direction straight from God. The Israe
